INVITE: Anti-Privatisation Rally - This Sunday at Maitland Park

Due to overwhelming community pressure and the tireless work from our Doctors across the state, the Government has backflipped and announced they will publicly fund Shellharbour, Goulburn, Bowral and Wyong Hospitals.

However, they are still proposing to privatise Maitland Hospital through a not-for-profit operator.

We are concerned this will have significant impacts on the training and supervision of Junior Doctors and access to basic entitlements that support your professional development, such as TESL.

Limitations or restrictions placed on your development, and the training of our young future Doctors will lead to a decline in the high level of care currently received by the patients in the affected Districts.

At ASMOF, the question we have is this: Why is Maitland Hospital and the community members you care for, any different than Shellharbour, Goulburn, Bowral and Wyong Hospital?

This Sunday, 26 November 2017, at 12.30pm in Maitland Park, Maitland, the Combined Health Unions are holding a rally to call the Government to answer this question.

We are asking you, our doctors, to show your support by attending* alongside your nurses, allied health workers, and community members.

We also have a simple ask, when you come along to the rally, can you bring a friend? They could be a fellow Doctor, a colleague in health, a partner or a friend.

The only way we can enact change to protect the training and education of our JMOs is with your overarching support!

Feel free to email, or call the ASMOF Office on 9212 6900 for further information.

We look forward to seeing you there!

*For doctors concerned about appearing at the rally and generating conflict with your employer, this is a community rally, and as long as you are appearing in your own time (i.e. not at work), you are protected. Moreover, if approached by the media we advise you to speak as a member of the community or an ASMOF Representative.
